Yes, I have been busy.

My sewing machine, probably 30 years old, has finally bit the dust.  The bottom tension would no longer its tension.  The repair man couldn't even get it to work so it is gone to sewing machine heaven.  I loved that machine it was a workhouse and I had lots of hours sewing on it.  Made all my daughters clothes on it when they were small.

Now I am using a Janome that was given to me,  the previous owner may hay used it a hour!  Well, she was in her 90's when she bought it.  I feel blessed that it was given to me.

I finished this dress for my great-granddaughter on the new machine.

And this one for my granddaughter.

Plus I have made several potholders will add some pictures later as I don't have them on my iPad right now.  I have several tops put together but need some padding so I can finish them

I also have made several aprons.

Here are a few potholders I have finished.

Today's finished pieces.  The first is my seventh cupcake.  Still I do not get the frosting on level!  But then I don't on real ones either.  However this one has bugs on it!

This next one is a bib than has been languishing for over a year and all it needed was the Velcro closing.

And finally another bib.  This one the base was cut out so long ago that I have lost the actual pattern.  Today I added the appliqué to finish it up.  All in all I had a very productive day.

Baby Bootees

I finished a pair of crochet baby bootees for a cousin and I think they turned out adorable.  She has been sharing the pictures on Facebook so I guess she is liking them.  They were fun to make and I have a second pair started.  I think I will use a different color of beads just so they will show up.

Dorm Quilt and Pillowcases

Finished!  A quilt for my granddaughter's college dorm room this fall.  This was a quick easy quilt to make.  She loves it so far.  I plan on mailing it to her this week, she can use it at home if she wants to.

Fortunately my sister was here to help me and give me pointers as I have never made a quilt before.  This one was fun and easy made need to do one for each of my grandkids.

Sherry is planning on leaving Wednesday to go back home.  It has been a visit of a test of endurance for her.  She has spent a lot of time at my house this trip which is unusual but much better than being stuck in the house with our stepmother all day.  I have enjoyed her visit this trip a lot.  We have done a lot of sewing, the quilt and about a dozen pillowcases for grandkids and a niece so far.

Super Bowl Sunday

Well, it is Super Bowl Sunday and I am watching a movie on the Science Fiction channel.  A hughe asteroid is about to hit and destroy earth.  But we know everyone will be saved!

So I am working on some mittens.  I currently have two pairs on my needles.  One pair is fingerless called "Musica".

I plan on sending them to my cousin in Washington state who plays a flute with the orchestra in her city.

The second pair are called "Moggles". They are kittens for my grandson's wife. I plan on making a matching pair girl his daughter.  I have several more cat mittens in my queue to make this year.  But I generally run out of mitten mojo late February or early March.  I am also working on a year long mystery scarf.  We get small clues each week and it runs until November.

Thank You Acknowledments

Sometimes I feel like I need to be the family police!  Why is it that the youth of today cannot see the need to send a simple Thank You for a gift they receive?  I hear from my parents all the time about Thank Yous they have not received.  I am not always the parent of the errant child or grandchild yet it seems I am the only one who should have the answer.  I try to remind my own children and grandchildren to call or send a Thank You but that doesn't always work.  So reminding all 13+ great grandchildren is almost impossible.

I think maybe I hear the complaint because I spend the most time with my parents because I live closest to them.  I just wish I knew what to do to teach these young people some respect.
